Baturina is suing Nemtsov for defamation over the publication of a report that her Inteko construction company said made "a conscious attempt to show that Inteko"s effective activity is possible only in Moscow."

Baturina said in a press release the report"s assertion is "absurd." There is no information on the amount of damages Baturina is seeking in the suit, which also alleges defamation of honor and moral damage.

"I"m pleased that Baturina is suing. I will do everything possible to make the corrupt activities [Moscow Mayor Yury] Luzhkov and Baturina are involved in become a topic for wide public discussion, including in court," Nemtsov told RIA Novosti on Friday.

Baturina is the president of the Inteko construction conglomerate. Her personal wealth was estimated by Forbes Magazine last year at $4.2 billion, but she is believed to have lost large sums in the financial crisis, which has severely hit the real estate market in Russia, and her current worth is estimated
