Denis Yevsyukov, who then was a police major, took a taxi to the Ostrov supermarket in southern Moscow shortly after midnight on April 27, where he shot the driver dead, before walking into a store and killing two more people and wounding six.

Moskovsky Komsomolets says it has obtained case materials and a video of the shooting from prosecution lawyer Igor Trunov.

A witness was recorded as saying during questioning: "Night shift manager Svetlana Alexandrovna... reported that Yevsyukov often robbed the store, loading a shopping cart with food and leaving the store without paying for the purchase."

"When store personnel tried to stop him, he argued and threatened them."

The April incident prompted the dismissals of a number of top police officials. The government has pledged checks of officers and other measures to improve police discipline.
